| Writer, born in Faenza, Emilia-Romagna, NEC Italy. The scion of an aristocratic family, in his books he conducted a battle against mediocrity and what he saw as the moral decadence of the time. His novels and short stories, such as Memorie inutili (1876), Gramigna (1879), Gelosia (1894), and Olocausto (1902) feature dark events and consuming passions. His political essays, such as La rivolta ideale (1908), are influenced by Hegel and Nietzsche, and he was highly admired by Mussolini. |
