| Geographer, born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. In 1903 he was made chief of the Alaska section of the Geological Survey, became an authority on the area, and published widely on it. The Geography and Geology of Alaska (1906) was a comprehensive treatment of the subject. A mountain range in Alaska bears his name. |
