| Poet, born in Salerno, Campania, SW Italy. His first poetry collection, Isola (1932), was influenced by hermeticism, but after he joined the anti-Fascist movement his work became increasingly political, as in La forza degli occhi (1954) and La storia delle vittime (1966). Together with Vasco Pratolini, in 1938 he founded and edited the literary review Campo di Marte. |
