| Painter, born in Kuslovo, Russia. He studied at St Petersburg Academy and in Munich, and developed his own brightly-coloured Fauvist style by c.1905. After c.1913 he came under Cubist influence, and painted simpler, more geometrical arrangements using more subdued colours. |
