| biography:
| Painter, born in Toronto, Ontario, SE Canada. He moved to Amherst, Nova Scotia in 1929, and has lived and painted in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, since 1971. The subject matter of his paintings, produced in a range of mediums, is usually taken from the immediate environment, but they are highly representational, always with both beautiful and disturbing elements. The Hewitt Gallery in New York gave him his first commercial exhibitions (1952 and 1955), and Dalhousie Art Gallery (Halifax) presented his first retrospective in 1984. |
