| biography:
| Writer, born in Florence, Tuscany, NC Italy. He joined the Futurist movement early in his career, and his first poems (L'incendiario, 1910) and novels (Il codice di Perelà, 1911) show strong grotesque and fantastic elements. He soon left the movement, and his next works feature a return to tradition with La piramide (1926), Stampe dell'800 (1932), the sad yet ironic recollection of childhood, the popular Sorelle Materassi (1934), Il palio dei buffi (1937), and I fratelli Cuccoli (1948). His later work sees a return to Surrealism, as in Il doge (1967), Stefanino (1969), and Storia di un'amicizia (1971). |
