| Italian politician and economist, born in Verona, Veneto, N Italy. He was one of the founders of the Fascist movement, and an able finance minister (1922–5) and Chancellor of the Exchequer (1923–5). He voted against Mussolini during the Gran Consiglio meeting of 24 July 1943, and was sentenced to death in his absence at the Verona trial. |
