| Italian general, born in Turin, Piedmont, NW Italy. He fought with Napoleon in Italy and was awarded the légion d'honneur. In 1840 he was made general of the Piedmontese army and commander general of Sardinia. He compiled a famous map of the island and wrote an important work on the geography of Sardinia. |
