| Actor, born in Barcelona, NE Spain. He studied drama, then joined the theatrical company of Margarita Xirgu. Soon after he created his own theatre company which toured South America, performing plays such as La dama del alba, Los árboles mueren de pie, and Un matrimonio inmortal. Their success enabled him to return to Spain (1955) and enter the film industry, making his debut with Muerte de un ciclista, and he also continued working in the theatre. Among his best films are El renegado (1943, director José Bohr), Encrucijada (1946, director Patricio Kaulen), Tren internacional (1954, director Daniel Tinayre), El baile (1959, director Edgar Neville), El diablo también llora (1963, director José Antonio Nieves Conde), and Esquilache (1988, director Josefina Molina). |
