| Archaeologist, birthplace unknown. He taught at the University of Michigan (1947–61). His major contribution was to introduce the use of quantitative techniques in archaeology and to develop it as a scientific discipline. His most important publications include works on the archaeology of Native Americans of the Plains and accounts of his investigations in the Aleutian Is (1962). |
