| King of the Visigoths (485–507), who reigned over Gaul S of the Loire, and over most of Spain. In 506 he issued a code of laws known as the Breviary of Alaric (Breviarum Alaricianum). An Arian Christian, he was killed at the Battle of Vouillé, near Poitiers, by the orthodox Clovis, King of the Franks. |
