| biography:
| Astronaut, born in Wheeler, Texas, USA. He studied at the University of Texas, then served as a naval test pilot (1955) before joining the crewed spaceflight program (1963). He was a crew member of the historic Apollo 12 Moon-walk mission, and commander of the second crew to occupy the orbiting Skylab 3. Following retirement in 1975, he continued to work for NASA as an adviser. |
