| biography:
| Historian, born in Escalona, C Spain. He was in the service of Diego Hurtado de Mendoza until his patron died in 1575, and then went to Cádiz as the town's historian, completing his chronicle in 1598. It was published by the Ayuntamiento de Cádiz in 1845 with Joaquín Rubio's account of the city's ancient coins. Horozco is best known for the lively Discurso historial de la presa que del Puerto de la Maamora hizo la armada real de España, año de 1614. He also wrote the lives of the martyred saints Servando and Germano (1619), benefactors of Cádiz. |
