| biography:
| Writer, probably born in Flanders, Belgium. He trained at the court of Brabant (1248–61), and entered the service of Guy of Dampierre, heir to the county of Flanders, as principal minstrel. Adenet accompanied him on the Tunisian crusade, and his poems contain many references to parts of their return journey through Sicily and Italy. Among his stories of chivalry are Berte aus grans piés (c.1275) and Les Enfances Ogier. Also extant is a romance, Cléomadès. |
