| Philanthropist, art collector, and painter, born in New York City, USA. She studied at Barnard College, and married Arthur Lehman, an investment banker (1901). She became active in the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies, of which he was a founder, and after he died she founded the Arthur Lehman Counselling Service to help people needing psychiatric services. Her philanthropies extended to many activities, from the women's suffrage movement to handicapped children. She and her husband collected Italian art works, many of which became part of various museum collections. She also painted landscapes and still-lifes. |
