| biography:
| Footballer, born in Mahdia, Tunisia. He joined his first club, Africain de Tunis, at the age of 10 and stayed there for the next 14 years, winning two Tunisian League titles and one Tunisia Cup. He won his first international cap in September 1993, and has since become his country's most capped player, being picked more than 70 times. After mixed fortunes with French club Nantes and Spanish team Real Jaen, he joined Freiburg of the Bundesliga (German Football League) in 1998, where he eventually found true scoring form again. His four goals in the 1998 FIFA World Cup qualifying rounds were largely responsible for helping Tunisia to reach the finals in France. |
