| Writer, born in Lodi, Lombardy, N Italy. A primary-school teacher, she achieved popular and critical success with her first collections of feminist-themed poems, Fatalità (1892) and Tempeste (1894). Later collections, Il libro di Mara (1919) and I canti dell'isola (1925), are indebted to d'Annunzio, while Christian and family themes are central to Vespertina (1931) and Il dono (1936). Her prose work includes Le solitarie (1917) and the autobiographical Stella mattutina (1921). |
