| Founder of the Bruderhof movement in Nazi Germany, born in Wrocław, SW Poland (formerly Breslau, Prussia), He studied theology at Halle, but disqualified himself from the degree through his insistence on being baptised on profession of faith. A convinced pacifist associated with the Student Christian Movement, he linked spiritual authenticity with an awareness of economic injustice. A selection of his writings and addresses, God's Revolution, was published in 1984. |
