| Economist, born in Tbilisi, Georgia. Director of the Institute of Economics and Industrial Engineering, with his colleagues he developed the models for managing the national economy which the Soviet government started to apply in the late 1980s. He was personal adviser to President Gorbachev on economic affairs. |
