| biography:
| British lawyer. He studied at Oxford, and was called to the bar in 1906. He became a judge of the High Court of Justice in 1932, a Lord Justice of Appeal in 1944, and a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary in 1947–57. He was president of the International Tribunal for the trial of war criminals at Nuremberg in 1945–6, and was distinguished for his fair and impartial conduct of the proceedings. Created Baron Oaksey in 1947, he succeeded his brother in the title of Trevithin in 1959. |
