| Newspaper magnate, born in London, UK. Closely associated with his brother, Alfred, he also founded the Glasgow Daily Record and in 1915 the Sunday Pictorial. He became air minister (1917–18), and after his brother's death acquired control of the Daily Mail and Sunday Dispatch. A baronet in 1910, he was created baron in 1914 and viscount in 1919. |
