| biography:
| Poet, born at Beauchamp Court, Warwickshire, C England, UK. He studied at Cambridge, and travelled abroad on diplomatic missions. He wrote several didactic poems, over 100 sonnets, and two tragedies. Knighted in 1597, he was Chancellor of the Exchequer (1614–22), and created baron in 1621. He died after being stabbed by a servant. His life of Sir Philip Sidney appeared in 1652. |
